How Sutly works

A short link is a small web address that sends people to a longer one. Instead of sharing a 120-character link full of codes, you share something like sutly.onrender.com/offer. This guide walks you through making, sharing and tracking links.

1. Create your free account

Go to Sign up and enter your name, email and a password of at least 8 characters. Your account keeps all your links in one place, so you can edit them, see their stats and turn them off later. Nobody else can see or change your links.

2. Paste your long link

On your dashboard, paste the full address of the page you want to share and press Shorten. You can paste it with or without https://; we add it for you. Your new short link appears straight away with buttons to copy it, share it or open its QR code.

Optional: choose your own ending

Open Options before you press Shorten to set a custom alias. For example, a bakery might use /cakes for its order form and a job seeker might use /priya-resume. Aliases can use letters, numbers, dashes and underscores, from 3 to 32 characters. Capital letters don't matter: /Cakes and /cakes are the same link.

Optional: add a title and an expiry date

A title is a private note that helps you find the link later, such as "Diwali poster – shop window". An expiry date makes the link stop working after that day, which is useful for limited-time offers, event registrations and job posts. After the date, visitors see a friendly "this link has expired" page.

3. Share it anywhere

Short links fit neatly into WhatsApp messages, Instagram bios, SMS, emails and printed material. On a phone, the Share button opens your phone's share menu. For anything printed, such as posters, menus, product packaging or visiting cards, download the link's QR code as a PNG image. When someone scans it with their camera, they go straight to your page.

4. See who's clicking

Open Manage next to any link to see:

We count clicks without collecting the personal details of the people who click. See our privacy policy for details.

5. Change it later

Printed a QR code and then your form moved? Open the link, change the Destination URL and save. Everyone who uses the old short link or QR code now goes to the new page, so there's no need to reprint. You can also change the title or expiry date, or delete the link completely.

6. Track campaigns with the URL builder

If you use Google Analytics, open the URL builder before shortening. Paste your page address, tap where you'll share it (WhatsApp, Instagram, Email…) and add a campaign name such as diwali_sale. The builder adds UTM tags to the link; press Shorten to turn it into a short link. Analytics then shows each visit under the right source and campaign. To add tags to a link you already made, open it from your dashboard and choose Add campaign tags; the short link stays the same.

7. Design a custom QR code

Every link already has a plain QR code. To make one in your own style, press Customize QR on the link's page, or the QR button on your dashboard. Choose colours, dot and corner shapes, add your logo and a label like "SCAN ME", then download it as PNG (for chats and websites) or SVG (for printing). Press Save design to keep it with the link. Scans of that code appear as "QR code scan" in the link's stats, so you can see how many people scanned the poster versus clicked the link.
